The past few days have been quite busy! During the week Jen visited and we did some sight seeing as well as enjoyed some time at the Kunstlerhaus. After she headed back home I had a studio visit on Friday which I found very refreshing. Later that night I went out to a few openings in Berlin such as Body/Controlled #4 - bio interfacing and an open studio night at the university.
Saturday I headed out to Stuttgart! The weather was not ideal for travel but all is safe and sound. Being in Stuttgart I went to visit the 72 Hour Urban Action even that took place here. There was a group of Cranbrook students which of course just made the will to go even stronger. It seems it was quite the experience for all with the limited time, language and sleep! Also, it rained for the whole 72 hours and everything was outdoors so you can only imagine. After saying farewells and see you laters to the 72HUA group I was lucky enough to visit an artist at the Akademie Schloss Solitude residency. During my first week in Berlin I met Youki Hirakawa and his girlfriend, who are currently at Solitude. They gave a warm welcome and a lovely tour of their studios and the facilities at Schloss. We were also fortunate enough to visit the studio of Marianthi and Pe Lang. Being that it is a small world it turns out I saw Pe Lang's solo show in London when I visited in March. It was really great to talk to them both and see their process in the studio.
