VIRGINIA!
As of right now I am finishing up teaching my first semester of introduction to metalsmithing at Old Dominion University. I was a TA for a few years before running off to graduate school so it has been a nice experience. Teaching has allowed me to further my work as well help others learn and develop, many in a field they have never experienced before. All sadness aside as my class comes to an end, I have great news! continue.... EUROPE! It has been a busy summer so far and its only mid June! before graduation at Cranbrook there was an award ceremony held. I had been nominated for the Mercedes-Benz Emerging Artist Award for the year of 2012 and was lucky enough to have received it. This award means that I am off to Germany again! To say I am excited is an understatement. There is a lot waiting for me there to go along side this great opportunity. While I am in Germany I will network with a University there as well as have many networking opportunities within and around the city. Outside of Germany I am also planning some traveling for the same networking purposes. Also, I am taking part in a curated show in Brussel, Belgium. Timothy McMahon from Cranbrook Academy of Art is curating 'The Butcher, Baker, and Candle Stick Maker" this August. Due to my being in Europe at the time I will be available to help him with the display and opening. Back in Germany I intend to visit Documenta during the month of July before going to Belgium. So friends and colleagues that I know and love I hope to see you on my travels and will keep everyone posted with my adventures and work.
